Moonlight Spur & Mercy is a Christian-owned small business.

We are Baptist Christian women, and our faith in God is not separate from what we create. It is part of who we are.

But being Christian doesn't mean that everything we create has to look traditionally Christian.

🐦‍⬛ The Raven

Ravens hold a particularly meaningful place in our hearts because, unlike some of the imagery we use, ravens actually appear in Scripture in a beautiful picture of God's provision.

In 1 Kings 17, God commanded ravens to bring food to Elijah while he was hiding in the wilderness. Morning and evening, the ravens brought him food. Jesus later pointed people toward the ravens as a reminder of God's care and provision.

So when we see a raven, we don't automatically see darkness. We can see provision, the reminder that God can provide in places we never expected, and a wilderness season where God has not forgotten His child.

Even here, God provides.

To us, the raven can represent provision, perseverance, unexpected blessings, strength in the wilderness, and the reminder that God sees us.

We love wolves for a different reason. We don't present the wolf as a biblical Christian symbol. Scripture sometimes uses wolves as a warning about dangerous or deceptive people, and we don't want to pretend otherwise.

Instead, our wolf imagery comes from our appreciation of God's creation and from the symbolism we find in the animal itself. To us, the wolf can represent strength, courage, loyalty, protection, family, perseverance, and freedom.

But when a dragon appears in one of our designs, we are not portraying Satan, demons, or a spiritual being. We are not worshiping dragons. We are not claiming they possess supernatural power. We are creating fantasy art.

A dragon can represent strength, courage, protection, determination, overcoming fear, or sometimes, a dragon is simply a dragon. A beautiful creature from an imaginary world, a character in a story, and a little piece of wonder.

☽ The Beautiful Witch

We know this may be the one that raises the most questions, so we'll be very clear. When we create beautiful, whimsical, mysterious, or fantasy-style witches, we are not saying that we practice witchcraft. We don't.

We do not encourage spell casting, occult practices, seeking supernatural powers, consulting spirits, or anything that takes the place of God. Our faith remains our faith.

So why create a pretty witch? Because fictional fantasy and spiritual practice are not the same thing. A witch character can exist within a fairytale, a gothic story, a whimsical forest, an old cottage, a fantasy world, or a beautiful illustration.

Sometimes, honestly, we just think the artwork is beautiful. A woman in a pointed hat beneath the moon, a flowing dress surrounded by flowers, an old book beside a candle, a mysterious cottage tucked away in the woods, or a beautiful fictional character surrounded by stars.
